Changes… August 5, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — nataliesbookshelf @ 11:37 pm

Hey you guys! As all of you know, I’ve been taking a break for the summer. I’ve been thinking about it, and I’m considering changing the blog up a bit. Instead of writing reviews for each book, I was thinking of just listing the books, and whether they were good, and maybe a brief summary next to it. If anyone has any objectoins, feel free to let me know!

“Breathless” by Lurlene McDaniel

Filed under: Reviews — nataliesbookshelf @ 11:35 pm

“Breathless” by Lurlene McDaniel was an eye opener. I’m warning you right now that it is SAD. “Breathless” is about Travis Morrison. Travis is a diver, an champion diver. He has the best girlfriend, Darla, and a best friend Cooper, and a little sister Emily. His life is perfect! That is, until the first day of summer when they go boating on the lake. Travis decides to take a dive off of a huge cliff in the middle of the lake. He climbs up to the top, puts his toes up to the edge, bends, jumps, and CRACK! His leg bone snapped right when he jumps.

Travis has a cancerous tumor in his leg. They have to amputate it. This book was good, but it was sad. I still think that you guys should read it though, it shows you how life can change at any time at all.

“Perfect You” by Elizabeth Scott

Filed under: Reviews — nataliesbookshelf @ 11:33 pm

“Perfect You” by Elizabeth Scott was another great book! In “Perfect You”, Kate Browns best friend Anna becomes popular, and abandons her. Then, her Dad starts selling vitamins at a booth in the mall, and is using up ALL of the family’s money. Then, there’s Will. Will who Kate acts like she despises, but who she really has a HUGE crush on!

Kate doesn’t think that Will even knows that she exists, but he does! Will also works in the mall at a sports shop, and he and Kate start hanging out, then they start ALMOST dating. Will NEVER dates anyone. But soon that will change! I really loved this book, and after I read “Perfect You”, and “Bloom” by Elizabeth Scott, I went on-line to Better World Books and ordered ALL of Elizabeth’s books!

Make a visit to Better World Books. Last I checked they still had Elizabeth’s books!

Seriously! Be happy you guys! Forget about everything else and just be HAPPY!

“Daughters of the Moon: The Lost One” by Lynne Ewing June 29, 2009

Filed under: Reviews — nataliesbookshelf @ 10:17 pm

“Daughters of the Moon: The Lost One” is the 6th book in a series of 13! The first 5 books are:

1. “Daughters of the Moon: Goddess of the Night”

2. “Daughters of the Moon: Into the Cold Fire”

3. “Daughters of the Moon: Night Shade”

4. “Daughters of the Moon: The Secret Scroll”

5. “Daughters of the Moon: The Sacrifice”

In”The Lost One”, Tianna wakes up one day, and doesn’t know where she is, what happened to her, or WHO she is! She only has a note telling the police that someone is out to kill her. Tianna later realizes that she has the power to move things with her MIND! Tianna meets Derek at school that day, and he seems to know her, but she has NO clue who he is at all.

Later on in the book, 2 people named Mason and Justin come Tianna. Mason and Justin work for the Atrox. I really liked this book. It was really cool to see how Tianna had to adjust to not knowing anything at all!

Be sure to see if Better World Books has any good deals! Remember… they help fund global literacy AND they recycle the books that they can’t use!!!

Come on you guys! This is like perfect info AND it rhymes!!! LOVE IT!

Heyyy! Over the summer I’m going to be slwoing down on the posts, but keep checking up!

“Daughters of the Moon: The Sacrafice” by Lynne Ewing June 22, 2009

Filed under: Reviews — nataliesbookshelf @ 10:51 pm

“Daughters of the Moon: The Sacrifice” by Lynne Ewing if the 5th book in a series of 13! The first 4 books are

1. “Daughters of the Moon: Goddess of the Night”

2. “Daughters of the Moon: Into the Cold Fire”

3. “Daughters of the Moon: Night Shade”

4. “Daughters of the Moon: The Secret Scroll”

In “The Sacrifice” Stanton, a follower of the Atrox, is in love with Serena, a daughter of the Moon. That is forbidden. During the book, their secret gets out, and Stanton must choose between Serena, and the darkness. Lynne Ewing is an awesome author. She has several other series, such as “Sons of the Dark”, and “Sisters of Isis” I would suggest this series because it is a page turner.

“Bloom” by Elizabeth Scott June 12, 2009

“Bloom” by Elizabeth Scott was an AMAZING book! In “Bloom”, Lauren has the perfect boyfriend, and the best friend. Then WHY is she unhappy? When Evan Kirkland arrives back in town, Lauren finds out. Evan’s mom went out with Lauren’s dad for about 3 months, they lived together and everything.

When Dave starts talking more and more about their future together, their life, Lauren realizes that she doesn’t want this! So she starts hanging out with Evan. Just about everyday after school they hang out in the library. I really liked this book, and I LOVE Elizabeth Scott.

I LOVE this quote! I mean, come on! It should be true about all of us, but it’s not. Be who you are!

“Daughters of the Moon: The Secret Scroll” by Lynne Ewing June 6, 2009

Filed under: Reviews — nataliesbookshelf @ 3:34 am

“Daughters of the Moon: The Secret Scroll” by Lynne Ewing (I’m going to call it “The Secret Scroll”) is the 4 book in a series of 13. The first 3 are:

1. “Daughters of the Moon: Goddess of the Night”

2. “Daughters of the Moon: Into the Cold Fire”

3. “Daughters of the Moon: Night Shade”

In “The Secret Scroll”, Catty, the goddess who can travel forward and backward in time, discovers a secret scroll (hence the title “The Secret Scroll”…) The scroll tells how to destroy the Atrox, the evil. The reason why Catty went back into time was to meet her mother, Catty was found wandering the freeway in the desert. When Catty meets her Mom, her Mom gives her the scroll.

Meanwhile, Vanessa and Micheal “take a break”. Vanessa ends up meeting a guy. She goes out with him. But, will he cause trouble?!?

Hey you guys! Leave some comments and book suggestions! Recently I’ve been getting some comments in Greek or something?!? So sorry, but I don’t know how to speak Greek, or Spanish, or any other language except for English, so… sorry if that messes you up!!!

“Daughters of the Moon: Night Shade” by Lynne Ewing

Filed under: Reviews — nataliesbookshelf @ 3:22 am

“Daughters of the Moon: Night Shade” by Lynne Ewing (I’m gonna call it “Night Shade” OK?) is the 3rd book in a series of 13. The first 2 books are:

1. “Daughters of the Moon: Goddess of the Night”

2. “Daughters of the Moon: Into the Cold Fire”

In “Night Shade”, Jimena’s old boyfriend Veto, who died a little while ago, comes back to life. Jimena thinks that Veto never really died, that he was put into protective services. It turns out that Veto is a shade, someone who was brought back by the Atrox. Jimena has to find a way to get Veto back! In this book, Jimena REALLY grows on you. After this book, Jimena was my favorite character!!!

I really liked this book, and have been enjoying the series!!!

“Cruel Summer” by Alyson Noël May 28, 2009

Filed under: Reviews — nataliesbookshelf @ 12:44 am

“Cruel Summer” by Alyson Noël was a pretty good book. In this book, Colby’s parents are getting divorced, and decided to send her away to “Crazy Aunt Tally’s” home in Tinos (a tiny island by Greece) for the summer. Colby is really bummed, because she just started hanging out with the cool kids, and just became Levi’s girlfriend. (Levi is the coolest guy in the school) When Colby gets to Tinos after a LONG day of traveling, she realizes that it is a VERY small town, where EVERYONE knows EVERYONE else.

When she gets to Aunt Tally’s house, she sees that not only does she not get cell phone service, there is no T.V., or Internet!!! SO, she goes around the island and finds the Internet cafe where she basically spends half of her summer there. When they were having the 4th of July BBQ at Tally’s, Colby meets Yannis, and of course it’s love at first sight.

Through out the book, you get to know Yannis, and you get to go through the good times, and the bad ones. I really liked this book, but it wasn’t Alyson Noël’s BEST. I still think it is worth reading!!! Also, the second book in “The Immortals” series (the first one was “Evermore” I made a post about it earlier in my blog) by Alyson Noël is coming out on July 7th!!! I am SO excited! The book is called “Blue Moon”

Be sure to check out Better World Books! The books are SUPER cheap there, and it’s for a good cause!

Go ahead and leave a comment, or a book suggestion. I almost ALWAYS reply!!!

 Hahaha! SO true! LOVE it!
